Project Description: In middleware, products are often packaged across localization boundaries: a product packages its base bits into a set of base packages, and then separately packages the bits that localize the base bits into one or more localization packages. This project delivers a user interface to allow a user to choose whether to install or not install localization bits (as a whole). It does not allow the user to select individual locales to support. 2.2. Risks and Assumptions: The assumption was made that the user would require either none or all of the supported localizations to be installed (no possibility to pick which language to install). 3. Context and Need Summary 3.1. Problem Area: Products may have a requirement to be translated for a given user to use the product. The installer should be able to have the product installation include the translations. 3.2. Consumer/Requester: The Message Queue project has requested this functionality (WSARC/2006/536). 3.3. Justification: The Message Queue distribution wants to minimize the modification on the system under installation and reuse as much as possible the already installed JDKs, as it is a widely-available technology with a large installed footprint. 3.4. How will you know when you are done?: When it is possible for an install developer to specify localization packages separately from the packages they localize. When it is possible for an end-user using an openInstaller-based application to toggle the installation of localization bits. 4. Technical Description: 4.1. Details: This project delivers a stock UI page that products can incorporate into their installers. The page is presented to the user toiallow the selection of localization as part of the installation. Selecting that option will include localization installable units as part of the set to be installed. In the dependency descriptor defined as part of LSARC/2007/098, all installable units declared as attribute "localized" of an Installable Unit element and all Installable Units declared under the "Localization" Composite Unit element are included for installation. 4.2.
