With these applications, user can easily organize and management there images, they generally only have limited image processing operation available. For my opinion, gqview offers better UI than gthumb, but it really depends on users preference. I don't think we are going to replace gthumb with gqview but keep them together to give users more choices. Personnaly,I think gqview 2.0.4 is a very stable release, it will not spend much effort to maintain it, and we are not going to ship it by default, this will show as a optional package (which is same to Ubuntu) Talking about the GUI, I'm not saying the gqview if better than gthumb. They are just in two different style, gthumb is more a traditional gnome application, while gqview gives more Windows like look and feel. I think we can give user choice based on their preference. Until there is architecture present to ARC for how the new pkg.opensolaris.org system works and how packages are selected for the install disk the only method for integration is via the existing Solaris RE process. That means that it *is* shipped by default on the Solaris Express CD/DVD media. Getting ARC approval will give us the go-ahead to integrate Gqview if and when we feel it is appropriate. That said, I think we should do some careful consideration about when we integrate. To me, it would make sense to make sure that the external community is healthy and the project will be reasonably maintained upstream before we ship it in any supported sense. This could, for example, involve people from Sun stepping in and helping do maintainership or other duties if we think the business justification for Gqview warrants the effort.
