The goal is to have this "just work" and require minimal initial user configuration apart from deciding whether they want it on or off. The snapshot manager provides a sensible default configuration which the user is not required to configure in any way. Business Justification: At the moment OpenSolaris desktop user don't have a graphical way to use ZFS's unique feature.
