1.0 Description: EOF of gnome-sys-suspend 1.1 Project Detail This project proposes to deprecate gnome-sys-suspend in Solaris. The gnome-sys-suspend application in Solaris provides options to suspend or shutdown the whole system. The application was created as the counterpart of sys-suspend in JDS because sys-suspend does not support A11Y. But after the integration of GNOME Power Manager (LSARC/2007/702) and GNOME shutdown dialog (LSARC/2008/262), this functionality is implemented by gnome-session and gnome-power-manager. Now gnome-sys-suspend is not used by any components anymore. So we propose to remove it within a minor release of Solaris. 1.2 Packaging and Release Binding The gnome-sys-suspend application along with the SVr4 SUNWgnome-sys-suspend package family will be removed. 1.3 Documentation A man page was shipped with gnome-sys-suspend, and will be removed also. 1.4 Dependency The removal of this project is dependent upon the integration of the GNOME Power Manager (LSARC/2007/702) and GNOME shutdown dialog (LSARC/2008/262). Both of them have been already integrated into Solaris. 2.0 Interface Tables 2.1 Exported Interfaces Interface Stability Comments ----------------------------- ----------- ----------------- /usr/bin/gnome-sys-suspend Obsolete GUI Volatile /usr/lib/gnome-suspend Obsolete binary to perform Project suspend Private /usr/share/man/man1/gnome-sys-suspend.1 Obsolete man page Volatile SUNWgnome-sys-suspend Uncommitted appropriate components Family of SVr4 packages removed 2.2 Imported Interfaces Interface Stability Comments ----------------------- ------------------ ---------------- N/A 3.0 References PSARC 1996/408 sys-suspend LSARC 2003/569 Gnome sys-suspend LSARC 2007/702 GNOME Power Manager LSARC 2008/262 GNOME shutdown dialog
