Subject: PSARC FastTrack [03/16/2007]: Kernel Crypto support for MD4

Template Version: @(#)sac_nextcase %I% %G% SMI
1. Introduction
    1.1. Project/Component Working Name:
	 Kernel Crypto support for MD4
    1.2. Name of Document Author/Supplier:
	 Author: Darren Moffat
    1.3 Date of This Document:
	09 March, 2007
4. Technical Description

The obsolete and insecure for cryptographic use MD4 digest algorithm is
currently available for userland consumers via libmd (PSARC 2005/426).

Part of the authentication for CIFS requires access to MD4 in kernel.

This case makes MD4 available via the KCF crypto_digest() set of interfaces.
There is no MD4_HMAC and this case, like the previous libmd one does not
make MD4 available via pkcs11_softtoken.

The algorithm is known by the string "CKM_MD4" even though PKCS#11 never
defined it (and likely never will).

The new md4 kernel module will be delivered in SUNWckr as:
	/kernel/crypto/md4
	/kernel/crypto/amd64/md4
	/kernel/crypto/sparcv9/md4

It also adds the previously unshipped <sys/md4.h> header file in SUNWhea.

There are no platform/cpu variants of this module.

Just to make it completely clear rather than implicit the availability
of MD4 via the KCF APIs is Consolidation Private given that the
crypto_digest*() APIs are still Consolidation Private.

The release binding for this is patch.
