I'm filing the following fast-track for Garrett D'Amore. It depends on
2007/220 to permit the existing GLDv2-based dmfe driver in ON to be
converted to the new GLDv3 framework. Timer expires 4/30/2007.

Release binding is Patch; stability levels match existing practice.

Problem
-------

Solaris Nevada has introduced a new API for NIC driver writers, known
as GLDv3 (code named "Nemo"). This framework offers a lot of advantages
to drivers, even over GLDv2. See PSARC cases 2004/471, 2005/365, 2006/248,
and 2006/249 for more detail.

Sun also has a couple of GLDv2 drivers in Nevada, including one called "dmfe".
This driver supports the Davicom 9102 integrated 10/100 MAC and PHY controller.
This part is found on certain Tadpole laptops and on the Sun Netra X1.

This is a fairly simple driver, compared to a number of the gigE drivers
that are using GLDv3. As such it can be cited as a "model" for how
to write a GLDv2 driver. (Although it is not fully DDI compliant.)

Therefore it would be advantageous to convert the dmfe GLDv2 driver to GLDv3.

Proposed Solution
-----------------

We propose to convert the dmfe driver to GLDv3. This is also a perfect
case model for how to convert an old GLDv2 driver to GLDv3.

Kstat Changes
-------------

This has the ramification of moving the "dmfe0" (or "dmfe1") and "mii"
kstat blocks into the Nemo "mac" block. This is not part of any interface,
however (although the individual named kstats are indeed covered.)

This shouldn't impact anyone, unless they are explicitly coding for the
"mii" or "dmfe1" kstat

Note that we also rely on PSARC 2007/220, which addresses the need for
some other kstats in Nemo, to avoid further impact upon the kstats.

A new Nemo-provided kstat of "link_state" will also be exported, which
was not previously done.

The "intr" kstat will be reported as part of the "dmfe_events"
kstat, as Nemo does not have a kstat for tracking interrupts.
