I'm sponsoring this fast track for Ric Aleshire and the TX project team.
This is an OpenSolaris case.

It is the third and last of three interfaces that fell through the
cracks when Layered Trusted Solaris (PSARC/2002/762) was presented.

This case provides a convenience script for setting up labeled zones
It relies on an undocumented Project Private helper program.
The proposed interface taxonomy is Committed and the requested release
binding is Patch.
A copy of the prototype man page is also in the case directory.

The timer is set for 23 May, 2007.

Gary..
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Problem
=======
Creating labeled zones is a multi-step process. Doing so manually
can lead to inadvertent errors. Trusted Solaris CDE (LSARC/2005/075)
provides the SDTZoneConfigure action to aid administrators. Trusted Solaris
Gnome (LSARC/2005/280) (aka Trusted JDS) does not provide an equivalent.
SDTZoneConfigure is less functional than needed and has not been updated.

Proposal
========
Create a zenity script to aid the administrator.

Details
=======
Provide a Project Private helper program /usr/lib/lslabels for enumerating
the various labels that may be valid on the system.
Provide a zenity script for desktop use.
The interaction with the administrator is Not an Interface.

txzonemgr(1M):

NAME
      txzonemgr - Trusted Extensions Zone Manager Configuration Utility

SYNOPSIS
      /usr/sbin/txzonemgr

DESCRIPTION
      The txzonemgr shell script provides a simple menu-based GUI wizard
      for creating, installing, initializing, and booting labeled zones
      on a system where Trusted Extensions is enabled.
      The script provides contextual menus with appropriate choices.

      txzonemgr is run by root in the global zone. It takes no options
      and returns no values.

A very minor nit, but I believe that zenity(1) should NOT be listed in
the SEE ALSO. I it is an implementation detail that this currently uses
zenity.

Is there a reason why this isn't covered by a RBAC profile such as
"Zone Management"? Or is this not necessary if the underlying zones
commands are already covered?

That's an interesting point. I agree txzonemgr should be added to the
Zone Management profile, with uid=0. The script is currently written for
Korn shell. I changed the first line to
#!/bin/pfksh
so that it doesn't have to be explicitly invoked by the user running a
profile shell. There is more to this story:

In the Trusted CDE and Trusted JDS environments there are configuration
files that are interpreted by the window manager or panel manager to
specify which CDE actions or UNIX commands should be run in the global
zone instead of the zone implied by the current workspace label.The
txzonemgr script is an example of an application that must run in the
global zone. In both trusted window systems, such "trusted"
applications are started with all privileges, but with have the real and
effective uid of the logged in user. However, some of the zone-related
utilities actually require that the effective uid is 0, and the libgtk,
used by zenity, requires that the real and effective uid are equal.
Therefore, this script must be run with real and effective equal to
root, and an entry in exec_attr specifying uid=0 should be part of this
case.

	This case was approved at today's PSARC meeting before Dave's
	comment was seen, so rather than closing it I'm extending
	the timer for another week to capture any conversation.

At the request of the project team, I've updated the man page (the spec)
in the case directory to reflect the inclusion of txzonemgr in the
the existing Zone Management Rights Profile:

< txzonemgr is run by root in the global zone. It takes no options
<       and returns no values.
