  IV. Summary of Changes by Man Page

  I. Introduction
  ---------------
  PSARC 2002/132 and successor cases defined the InfiniBand Transport
  Framework (IBTF) interfaces. This fast track proposes enhancements to
  provide support for IP addressing based on the RDMA IP CM service as
  defined by the IBTA 1.2 vol 1 specification, Annex A11.

  These additions and changes will have a micro/patch binding.

  In general, there has been a long standing goal of using IP based
  addresses with Solaris InfiniBand support. To this point, the IB ULPs
  have used a variety of methods of providing IP addressing. Reliable
  Datagram Sockets (PSARC/2006/356) (for Oracle support), Sockets
  Direct Protocol (PSARC/2006/389) and the new NFS over RDMA (currently
  being developed in OpenSolaris with Ohio State University) all use
  variations of the same method to get IP addresses. uDAPL
  (PSARC/2003/145) and the old NFS over RDMA (PSARC/2001/398) also use
  ATS (PSARC/2004/115) via contracts PSARC/2004/195 and PSARC/2004/715.

  This case introduces new interfaces for the framework that provide
  the ability to lookup IB path information based on IP addresses
  paving the way for all the above cases to be replaced by calls to
  this new common framework code. Essentially the method used by RDS,
  SDP and new NFS over RDMA is absorbed into the framework. Eventually
  the implementation will make use of ip2mac (PSARC/2006/482) when
  available. The actual obsoleting of the ATS contracts (and possible
  EOL of ATS itself) will occur in a separate case when it is confirmed
  that we no longer have external commitments for ATS.

  Further, the new APIs fold in the now standardized method of
  exchanging addressing info described in the IB Annex A11 RDMA IP
  CM Service (see

http://webhome.central/iot/ibtf/website/specs/ib-1.2/ip_address_annex.pdf ).

III. Description of Changes
---------------------------

1. Add PathRecord Lookup APIs, based on IP address

    These APIs are basically the same as the existing ibt_get_paths(),
    except adapted to use IP addresses. Likewise, there are async and
    automatic path migration lookup versions; also the related structs
    are adapted to use IP addresses.

    ibti(9) - Add list of new man pages

    ibt_get_ip_paths(9F) - New, equivalent to ibt_get_paths()
    ibt_ip_path_attr_t(9S) -  New, equivalent to ibt_path_attr_t
    ibt_ip_addr_t(9S) - New, definitions for IP address query in IB calls
    ibt_path_ip_src_t(9S) - New, src IP addrs for returned IB paths

    ibt_aget_ip_paths(9F) - New, equivalent to ibt_aget_paths()
    ibt_ip_path_handler_t(9E) - New, equivalent to ibt_path_handler_t

    ibt_get_ip_alt_path(9F) - New, equivalent to ibt_get_alt_path()
    ibt_alt_ip_path_attr_t(9S) - New, equivalent to ibt_alt_path_attr_t

2. Add RDMA IP CM Service APIs

    The new RDMA CM IP Addressing A11 annex describes a standard way to
    map from IP addresses to IB Service IDs (SIDs).

    The following functions access fields of the newly defined CM IP
    Address SID range.

    ibt_get_ip_sid(9F) - New, format and reserve a particular SID
    ibt_release_ip_sid() (in ibt_get_ip_sid(9F)) - New, release the SID
    ibt_get_ip_protocol_num(9F) - New, extract the protocol from SID
    ibt_get_ip_dst_port() in (ibt_get_ip_protocol_num(9F)) - New,
extract port

    These functions format and access fields of the new Communication
    Manager private data fields for IP address info interchange. Also,
    new error codes are added to existing man pages:

    ibt_format_ip_private_data(9F) - New
    ibt_get_ip_data() (in ibt_format_ip_private_data(9F) - New

    ibt_cm_reason_t(9S) - Add RDMA IP CM service reject codes.
    ibt_arej_info_t(9S) - Add RDMA IP CM service reject data.

    ibt_get_src_ip(9F) - New, find local source IP address based on IB addrs

    Other:

    ibt_ip_addr_t(9S) - New, definitions for IP address in IB calls
    ibti(9) - add references to all new man pages

3. Cross references update, mostly in the "SEE ALSO"

    ibt_get_paths(9F)
    ibt_open_rc_channel(9F)
    ibt_register_service(9F)
    ibt_set_alt_path(9F)

    ibt_alt_path_info_t(9S)

IV. Summary of Changes by Man Page
----------------------------------
    All new man pages can be found in the case materials directory.
    Changed man pages are also there with change bars applied to the text.

    Note that the diff files also include some changes which are NOT
    pertinent to the case. These changes include:
    o correction of typos
    o minor changes in phrasing that don't change semantics
    o formatting changes (mostly reformats done by pubs group)
    o changes to cross references mostly in the "SEE ALSO" section, but
      sometimes in the text body
