All,

As requested, I have extended time to 4/16/2008. It can't go
beyond this as project team is readying a putback for build 89
of nevada.

Looking at the case materials, this case only defines changes
within the mac framework to support rings and shares.

With other hardware features, such as checksum offload and
LSO, there have also been some changes in IP, specifically with
what gets put in the ill_t.

Does the work this project is doing require any such changes
in IP (and have been forgotten for inclusion in the materials)
or is everything self contained within what is being defined
in the mac changes?

As defined, this does not have an impact on IP. The consumer
of these capabilities at this time is the LDoms vsw driver. The vsw driver
will use this interface to steer resources to guest domains. At the
time Crossbow
integrates, Crossbow's mac layer will be the consumer of these capabilities
as it desginates what to do with the resources of the NIU.

No, this project does not require any changes to IP. It's self contained
at the mac layer.

Ok, thanks, that's all the concerns I had.

All,

I have placed an update to the specification for this project
in the project directory.

During implementation, we discovered the we needed an additional
interface for the MAC_CAPAB_SHARE capability to handle the
of constraints being placed on a share. For example, only
certain RX and TX DMAs can be assigned to a share. Or, shares
have constraints to how many or how few DMA resources can
be added to them.

The updated specification has "!" at the beginning of the line
to indicate where the change was made.

I would still like to close on this case on 4/16/2008. If you
have any concerns or questions please let's address them
quickly.

Thanks,
Michael
