1. Introduction
    1.1. Project/Component Working Name:
	 Command Assistant 2.0
    1.2. Name of Document Author/Supplier:
	 Author:  Pu Chen
    1.3  Date of This Document:
	20 January, 2010
4. Technical Description
4. Technical Description:
	Command Assistant 2.0 is an upgrade for PSARC/2008/772.
        Requested binding: patch/minor

        The following features are added in the new version based on
        feedback on Command Assistant 1.0

        Auto correction
        ----------------
        Auto correction for incorrect Solaris commands.

           Eg.
               * User input "zfs lists"
               * Command Assistant lists "zfs list" as the suggested condition

        Solaris Package Support
        ----------------------
        Lists the package name (with dependent packages) to be installed
        for having for a given command.

        Very useful in svr4 system where such a feature does not exist.

        Solaris Patch Support
        ---------------------
        Give a suggested patch list based on:
		* the command
		* and the system(S9 or s10, sparc or x86)

           Eg.
               * User input "/sbin/sh" on a Solaris 10 sparc system
               * Command Assistant displays patch 139969-01 as the
                 suggested patch to be installed

        Customization
        -------------
        Categorize the results for selection. All of the contents generated
	from the web service will be pre-classified into different categories.
	And Command Assistant applet provides tabs of categories to users
	for selection. This will narrow down the information domain to help
	users to get more precise result.

	  Eg.
	      * User input "zfs"
	      * Command Assistant show tabs for "solaris book", "man page",
		"patch", "bigadmin" and "see also". User click on the tab
		to view the "zfs" related results in that category.

        Web Service's URL
        -----------------
        Web Service's URL will be stored in the properties files. And
        user can edit the URL string through Command Assistant applet
        properties windows.

Does this deal with IPS having different package names from SVR4,
including a completely new set coming soon (possibly for 2010.03)?

Architecturally this looks like a straight-forward extension of already
approved architecture.

Does the webservice URL support mean that there can now be a way for 3rd
parties to publish content directly?

+1 on this case in any event.

Support for ips/svr4 packages are there.

Jeffrey, if we have a same package name with different dependencies in
svr4/ips formats, then will the tool report both ? Or when running in
OpenSolaris it report ips only and in S10U svr4 ?

Thanks Garret.

I think it's possible for 3rd parties to publish content, Jeffrey may be
able to answer if we already have the tools and process in place for that.

On OpenSolaris this tool should support only IPS pkgs, while on S10 it
should support only SVR4 pkgs. (IPS can run on S10, and OpenSolaris
supports SVR4 pkgs, but the supported pkgs will all be SVR4 in S10 and
all IPS in OS.)

Command Assistant client application is a standard gnome applet. It has
the ability to know which OS it's running on(OpenSolaris or Solaris10),
and the OS's info will be also sent to web service together with
queries. So the packages(and the dependent packages) listed by Command
Assistant on OpenSolaris are ips packages(svr4 packages for S10U).

Hi Garrett and Suresh,<br>
<br>
There are two ways for the 3rd parties to publish content.<br>
<ol>
  <li>Publish content to Command Assistant official Web
Service(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://services.learning.sun.com/commandassistant/Engine">http://services.learning.sun.com/commandassistant/Engine</a>).
Those content from 3rd parties need to be sent to us for review first. <br>
  </li>
  <li>Setup local Web Service and put their own content on it, then
point the Web Service URL to local instance(it can be done by changing
the URL in properties window).&nbsp; It will be useful for intranet. <br>

I think it's possible for 3rd parties to publish content, Jeffrey may
be able to answer if we already have the tools and process in place for
that.

Does the webservice URL support mean that there can now be a way for
