I'm sponsoring this case for Michael Li. It is to provide a new
wireless driver, rtl819x, for RealTek RTL8192SE series wireless devices.
The requested release binding is minor.

I have marked it as "closed approved automatic" since the change is
straightforward and the interface is clear. If there is request, I'd be
happy to upgrade it to a fast track and set the timer.

-Frank

+1. It would be useful to know more about the device though:

a) what busses do it connect to
2) what type of 802.11 features does it support (a,b,g,n?) etc.

a) It connects to the PCIE buses.
b) This driver currently supports 802.11 b/g. Support for 802.11n will
be added to this driver later in next phase.

Thanks,
Frank.

Are there any policy changes in package naming (now that grand package
rename is behind us) ?

Effectively SUNW* names are Obsolete, and will not be allowed to integrate
to ON in Nevada, since package renaming is landing there with the ON IPS
conversion today.

ARC is supposed to be managing the namespace for the new package names, but
the case to formally introduce those hasn't been brought to ARC yet.

Then this project need to update the package name following the upcoming

The package name pattern for network drivers is driver/network/*, where the
tail matches the driver name. So in this case, the package name would be
driver/network/rtl819x.

Given Comay's response to your e-mail, I think we can accept
driver/network/rtl819x, and be done with it. I think the case can run
on its original timer with that modification.

Updated the package name and saved the new material as spec.txt in the
case directory.

Marked this case as 'closed approved automatic 03/02/2010'.
