I am filing this case on behalf of myself. This case completes work
begun half a decade ago in PSARC/2005/592, by EOFing the FMLI facility.
I have set the timer to Jun 2, 2010.

        -dp

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
FMLI EOF
Daniel Price (dp@eng)

----------------
This case requests EOF of the FMLI facility (Form and Menu Language
Interpreter).

This case is a followup to PSARC/2005/592[1], which EOLed this feature
with minor release binding. Please see that case for more details, as
it extensively explored the rationale for the EOL. We have no new
information to add to the rationale at this time.

PSARC/2005/592 noted a dependency by Live Upgrade's "lu" utility on
the FMLI interpreter. Since the LU command is now obsolete[2], the time
has come for FMLI to go to a nice farm upstate where it can be free to
roam with crash(1m) and vold(1m).

FMLI presently delivers two binaries:

        /usr/bin/fmli - invoke FMLI
        /usr/bin/vsig - synchronize a co-process with the controlling
                        FMLI application

These will be removed. The FMLI man pages consist of:

	fmli.1

	cocheck.1f echo.1f indicator.1f reinit.1f test.1f
	cocreate.1f fmlcut.1f longline.1f reset.1f unset.1f
	codestroy.1f fmlexpr.1f message.1f run.1f vsig.1f
	coproc.1f fmlgrep.1f pathconv.1f set.1f
	coreceive.1f getfrm.1f readfile.1f setcolor.1f
	cosend.1f getitems.1f regex.1f shell.1f

(Note that some common-sounding commands such as echo(1f) are *not* the
same as their section 1 equivalents, such as echo(1)).

These manual pages as well as other references to FMLI in the system
documentation will be removed.

Given the context of lu going away, this is rather straightforward. +1

Is it sufficiently straightforward that you think I could accelerate
the timeout? I'd be happy to not wait a whole week :)

We typically require cases to at least stay open for 48hrs to allow the
general engineering community to see it before it's approved. I don't
have a problem with shortening the timer to at least accomodate that
48hr window. Would that suit you?
